Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne takes place a year after the events of the first part and takes place in New York. Characters that the player has seen before will be encountered. Max returned to the ranks of the police, and for a while it seemed that everything was back to normal. Unfortunately, the past has returned to his life. The criminals again wanted to remove him and entrusted it to Monet, a mysterious woman, a murderer (known from the first part), with whom the hero falls in love. The situation becomes even more complicated when Max, agitated by doubts and feelings for Mona, kills his partner...
The game's plot is structured to resemble 1940s crime films (noir style) with one "Good" hero, a femme fatale and a love story, as well as a detective line full of many surprises and twists. The story is three times as long as before, but the game itself has a similar length. The plot is deeper and more meaningful. The creators wanted to avoid the typical "boredom" of the players, and everything was built in such a way as to pass the game with bated breath, from start to finish. Moreover, in the first part, the story and battles were separate parts, that is, the player could skip the cutscenes. This time, everything is neatly integrated. Despite the conceptual changes, the game is intended for adults only, as it contains scenes of violence, murders and other things.
The authors also tried to surprise the players again with the excellent audio-visual setting and the effects used. The game uses a new graphics engine, locations and character models have been implemented with even more attention to detail, and actors have been hired (the faces of the Remedy team members, their friends and family are visible in the first part).
